Privacy Policy
We keep this simple: we only collect what we need to quote and complete your job, we don't sell your information to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who We Are
Handyman Botany is a sole trader business operated by Rinat, based in Golflands, East Auckland. NZBN 9429051839260. We provide handyman, carpentry, maintenance and property services across East Auckland.
This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What We Collect
When you request a quote
- Your name
- Phone number
- Email address (optional)
- The address where the work is needed
- A description of the job
- Any photos you choose to upload
- How you found us
When you visit the website
- Anonymous page view counts β which pages are visited, and how often
- Standard analytics data via Google Analytics β device type, general location, how you arrived at the site
We do not collect payment card details through this website. Payments are handled separately at the time of invoicing.
Why We Collect It
- To quote your job β we can't price work without knowing what and where it is
- To contact you β to confirm details, arrange a time, or follow up
- To carry out the work β we need the address to turn up
- To invoice you β through HNRY, our registered invoicing and tax service
- To improve the website β anonymous analytics tell us which pages are useful
Where It's Stored
Quote requests are stored in Google Workspace β specifically Google Sheets and Google Drive β under an account controlled solely by Handyman Botany. Photos you upload are saved to a private Google Drive folder linked to your request.
Invoicing and tax records are held by HNRY, a New Zealand registered financial service provider.
Website analytics are processed by Google Analytics.
π We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, for any purpose. We do not send marketing emails unless you have specifically asked us to.
Who We Share It With
We share personal information only where it's necessary to do the job:
- Subcontractors β where a job needs a specialist trade such as a painter, electrician or scaffolder, we share only what they need: the address, the scope of work, and a contact number
- Service providers β Google Workspace for storage, HNRY for invoicing
- Where required by law β if we're legally obliged to disclose information
Anyone we work with is expected to treat your information with the same care we do.
Photos of Completed Work
We photograph completed jobs for our portfolio, website and social media. These photos show the work itself β a repaired fence, a new deck, a finished wall.
We do not publish your name, your address, or anything that identifies your property, unless you have given us permission.
Don't want your job photographed?
Just tell us. That's completely fine, and it won't affect the work or the price in any way.
How Long We Keep It
- Quote requests that didn't proceed β kept for up to 12 months, then deleted
- Completed job records β kept for 7 years, as required by New Zealand tax law
- Job photos β kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them
- Website analytics β anonymous, retained according to Google's standard settings
Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong or out of date
- Request deletion of your information, where we're not legally required to keep it
- Withdraw consent for us to use your photos or contact you
Just get in touch and we'll sort it. There's no charge, and we'll respond within 20 working days.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and browser storage for two purposes: to remember whether you've already been counted in our page view statistics today, and for Google Analytics.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The site will still work normally.
Security
Your information is held in Google accounts protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. Access is limited to Rinat. We take reasonable steps to protect against loss, misuse and unauthorised access β but no system connected to the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
This website and our services are directed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a new "last updated" date. Significant changes will be highlighted.
