Full Project25m Timber Fence Replacement
The old boundary fence was leaning, deteriorated and overgrown. It was fully dismantled, the fence line was cleared and prepared, and a new 25-metre timber fence was built along a clean, consistent line.
The project also involved old concrete, large roots, vegetation and existing services running near the work area.

The family wanted to close off an open side of the property once children began using the garden. The new gate was built to visually match the existing gate on the opposite side.
Ravil joined me as a young apprentice, helping with measuring, cutting and assembly before the hinges, palings and latch were fitted.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my existing fence be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. If the posts and main structure are still sound, individual palings, rails or damaged sections can sometimes be repaired without replacing the whole fence.
What affects the cost of fencing, and how can I reduce it?
Fence length matters, but site conditions can make just as much difference to labour and preparation. Ground conditions, slope, vegetation, access, fence height, design and materials can all affect cost.
Clearing loose vegetation, rubbish and stored items away from the fence line before work begins may help reduce preparation time.
Can you quote from photographs?
For some smaller repairs, clear photos and measurements may be enough for an initial estimate. Larger fence replacements usually benefit from a site visit so access, ground conditions and the existing structure can be assessed properly.
Can you remove and dispose of the old fence?
Yes. Demolition and disposal can be included in the quotation for a full replacement project when required.
Can a new gate be added where there wasn't one before?
Yes. The Shelly Park project above is a good example: the opening originally had no gate, and a new timber gate was added to create a safer enclosed garden area.
Should a timber fence be painted or stained?
Treated timber can be left natural, but a suitable exterior paint or stain can provide additional surface protection and help maintain its appearance.
A coating can reduce direct UV exposure, moisture uptake and visible weathering, but it does not replace correctly treated timber, proper construction or good drainage.
