Why Water Blasting Alone Won't Fix Weedy Paving — A Golflands Restoration
By Rinat, Handyman Botany · 26 June 2026 · 2 min read
A heavily overgrown paved area in Golflands, fully restored with commercial-grade water blasting and proper joint restoration — not just a clean, but a fix that lasts.
Why Cleaning Alone Isn't Enough
Water blasting is only half the job on weedy paving. It strips the growth and grime off the surface, but it also opens up the joints between the pavers — and if those gaps are left empty, weeds grow back through them faster than before, not slower.
What We Found in Golflands
A large paved area had become heavily overgrown with weeds growing through large gaps between the pavers, leaving the surface dirty, uneven-looking and increasingly slippery underfoot.
The Full Fix: Blast, Treat, Refill
The area was professionally water blasted to remove the weeds and built-up grime, the open joints were treated with a weed-control product, then refilled with paving jointing sand with binder — a stabilising compound that sets firm and helps lock the sand in place.
Why This Lasts Longer Than a Simple Clean
Properly filled joints support the pavers and give weeds far less room to re-establish. The result is a paved area that's not just clean on the day, but stays cleaner and tidier for longer than a water blast on its own.
