Before & After

From a Leaning Old Fence to a Clean New Boundary

The old fence had reached the point where continuing with temporary repairs no longer made sense. A full replacement was the practical long-term solution.

BEFORE

Existing Fence

The old timber fence was leaning, overgrown and deteriorated, with loose and rotten boards and previous temporary repairs visible along the fence line.

Completed Fence

The property boundary now has a straight, consistent and much cleaner timber fence, with the surrounding area cleared as part of the job.

The Problem

An Old Fence That Was Close to the End of Its Life

The existing approximately 25-metre timber fence was in poor condition and had started leaning noticeably. Several boards had become loose or rotten, and parts of the fence had previously been held or supported with temporary fixes.

Vegetation had also grown heavily around the fence line. Weeds, shrub growth and large roots made the area untidy and would have interfered with the installation of a new, straight fence.

Rather than continuing to patch an ageing structure, the decision was made to completely remove the old fence and rebuild the boundary properly from the ground up.

Stage 1

Demolition and Removal of the Old Fence

The old fence sections were first cut into manageable pieces and removed from the fence line. Because of the amount of material, the timber had to be reduced into smaller sections so it could be packed efficiently for disposal.

A FlexiBin was arranged for the demolition waste, including the old fence timber and removed material. Careful cutting and stacking allowed the waste to be consolidated efficiently rather than taking up unnecessary space.

The old fence posts and concrete footings were then removed. Where the old concrete could not be pulled out cleanly, it had to be broken up before the post holes could be properly prepared for the new fence.

Waste Removal

A FlexiBin was organised for disposal of the old timber, demolition material and site waste.

๐Ÿงฑ

Concrete Removal

Old post concrete was extracted or broken up where necessary so the new fence line could be prepared properly.

Stage 2

Clearing and Preparing the New Fence Line

After the old fence had been removed, the full length of the boundary was cleared before construction began. Weeds, vegetation and several large shrub roots were removed so they would not interfere with the new posts, framing or final fence alignment.

Existing internet, telephone and other service cables were also present close to the fence line. These had to be carefully identified and moved aside during the work so the fence could be rebuilt without damaging or cutting the services.

This preparation stage made it possible to create a cleaner and more consistent line for the new fence rather than building around the problems left behind by the old one.

Stage 3

Building the New Timber Fence

The construction photographs are displayed at a much larger size so the framing, fixing and timber details remain clearly visible.

โ€œI highly recommend Rinat โ€“ โ€˜Handyman Botanyโ€™. He has just completed building a 25m driveway fence and it looks great. Prompt and clear communication, high standard of workmanship, very good at consulting throughout the process, and outstanding tidy-up at the end of the job.โ€

The Result

A Cleaner, Straighter and Stronger New Fence

The old leaning and deteriorated boundary was completely transformed. The new fence now runs in a much cleaner and more consistent line and gives the property a significantly tidier appearance.

The surrounding fence line was also cleared during the project, removing the overgrown vegetation and roots that had contributed to the neglected appearance of the old boundary.

Full removal, fence-line preparation, construction and final tidy-up were completed as one coordinated project.
