An old mirror was replaced with a new framed mirror — a simple job that transformed how the bathroom looks and feels.

Before and After

What was there and what was built in its place.

Before
The old frameless bathroom mirror, its silvering broken up by black streaks running down the glass

The mirror that was there. A plain sheet with rounded corners, and the silvering behind it breaking down in long black streaks.

Off the Wall
The bathroom wall after the old mirror was taken down, clean and painted

The old mirror down and the wall clear — nothing left behind to patch or paint around.

Measuring

The new mirror face down. The brackets are what the wall has to match, so the spacings come off the back of the mirror itself — pencilled on as they're measured.

Fixings
Wall anchor and screw fitted into the bathroom wall, set on a pencilled level line

An anchor set into the wall and the screw driven into it, on the pencil line. This is what actually carries the weight.

After
The new mirror in its black frame, hung on the bathroom wall

The new mirror up — black frame, rounded corners, and depth the old sheet never had.

What Happened

The customer wanted to upgrade from a plain, frameless mirror to something with more presence — a framed mirror that reads as a finished piece rather than a bare sheet.

The old mirror was carefully removed. The wall was then prepared for the new mirror's fixing points, with wall anchors installed to handle the weight securely. The new framed mirror was leveled and fixed in place.

🎯

The Challenge

A bare mirror that didn't anchor the space. It lacked depth and looked like a utility rather than a feature. The customer wanted something that would make the bathroom feel more complete.

The Solution

A new framed mirror with a black aluminum frame and rounded corners. The frame gives the mirror weight and structure, and makes it feel like an intentional design choice rather than an afterthought.

The Result

The bathroom now has a focal point — a mirror that looks like it belongs there. The framed mirror makes the space feel more finished, more intentional, and more polished.

Common Questions

Is it easy to replace a mirror yourself?
It depends. A plain mirror hung on surface-level hardware is straightforward. But if the old mirror is glued or adhered to the wall with silicone, removal is risky — the mirror can shatter or chip in large pieces. Wall preparation also matters: if you're fixing to drywall alone (without finding a stud), the anchors must match the mirror's weight. Professional installation takes 10 minutes, including testing.
Can I install a framed mirror myself?
Yes, if you follow the rules. Lightweight mirrors can hang on drywall anchors or wallplugs. Heavier mirrors need to find a stud in the wall — the solid timber behind the plasterboard. A standard stud finder locates them. Once you know where to fix, leveling is the tricky part. Many DIY attempts end up slightly crooked. We drill the holes and fit the anchors to match your mirror's fixing points.
Do you supply the mirror?
Yes. We can source a mirror to your specification — size, frame colour, style — and deliver it with the installation. You can also bring your own mirror, and we'll handle the fixing. Either way, we guarantee the job.
What's the difference between a wall plug and a stud?
A wall plug (or wallplug) is a plastic anchor inserted into a drilled hole in drywall. A screw then expands it and locks the load in place. Studs are solid timber inside the wall. Studs hold much more weight than plugs — a stud anchors bathroom cabinets and heavy mirrors. A plug works for light fixtures and pictures. If your mirror is heavy and you can't find a stud, anchors rated for that weight (not all are the same) are the backup.
Can I bring a mirror and ask you to install it?
Absolutely. As long as the mirror is safe (no cracks, proper fixing holes), we'll install it and guarantee the job.
