About This Exterior Wall Renovation
This elevated exterior screen had been slowly failing for a while — the timber had weathered and split, the glazing was damaged, and the whole structure moved noticeably in strong wind. It needed to come down and be properly rebuilt rather than patched.
A mobile scaffold was set up first, so the old structure could be removed safely from beside the soffit at height. Apprentice Ravil assisted throughout, with a site safety briefing and proper PPE — gloves, safety glasses, and hearing and eye protection during cutting.
New timber framing was measured, marked and cut to size, then assembled in place of the old structure. Horizontal cladding boards were fixed to the new frame, and once the cladding was complete the whole wall was finished with a clean coat of white paint.
The job was spread over four working days, at roughly four hours a day, working around scaffold access and weather.
