eufyCam Security Camera Installation in Sunnyhills

A HomeBase, two cameras in the kit and one add-on camera, bought by the owner and sitting in their boxes. Set up, charged, mounted and aimed in two and a half hours — without a single new hole in the cladding.

Three Cameras, a HomeBase and No New Holes

The previous owner had taken their cameras down and left the fixings siliconed over. Those same holes took the new brackets, so the cladding was never drilled again.

What Arrived
eufyCam S330 kit box, an add-on camera box and the quick start guide on a kitchen bench in Sunnyhills before installation
The owner had already bought the gear: a eufyCam S330 kit with the HomeBase and two cameras, plus one add-on camera. Three cameras in total, still boxed.
Working Out the Spots
Ladder set up against the weatherboard wall of a Sunnyhills house to reach the camera positions above the door
The house is two storeys, but every camera was going at ground-floor level, above the doors. That is the difference between a ladder and a day with scaffolding and a second pair of hands.
Mounted
eufyCam S330 camera mounted on the white weatherboard wall of a Sunnyhills house, angled down towards the entrance
The first camera up and aimed. The owner watched the live view on their phone while the angle was adjusted, so the framing was agreed before anything was tightened down.
Finished
The last of three eufyCam S330 cameras installed on a Sunnyhills house, sitting flush against the white cladding beside the window
The third and last camera. All three recording to the HomeBase, no subscription, and the only marks on the wall are the ones that were already there.

About This Camera Installation

The owner rang after buying a eufy kit and asked whether it could be installed. Before quoting anything there were two questions worth asking, and both of them change the price.

The first was whether they already had the HomeBase. eufy cameras are not like Ring — a Ring camera joins your Wi-Fi and that is that, but eufy cameras talk to a HomeBase, and the HomeBase is also where the footage is stored, like a hard drive sitting in the house. No HomeBase, no system. They confirmed they had one in the kit.

The second was about the building. A single-storey house, or anything reachable from a ladder, is one person and a few hours. Cameras up at second-floor level is a different job: scaffolding, and someone on the ground. This house has two storeys, but the cameras were all going above doors at ground-floor level, so a ladder was enough and the price stayed at $180 + GST for the work.

On site the boxes came open first and the eufy Security app went on the owner’s phone. The HomeBase was paired first, then each camera onto the HomeBase — there is no point carrying a camera up a ladder before you know it talks to the base. The cameras are solar, but solar only tops a battery up; it does not fill an empty one. So all three were charged from a wall plug before they went outside, which is the difference between a camera that works tonight and one that works next week.

The positions turned out to be easy. Whoever lived there before had cameras on the same walls, unscrewed them when they left, and siliconed the holes so the cladding stayed weathertight. Those holes lined up with the new brackets, so the old silicone came out and the brackets went straight back into existing fixings. Nothing new was drilled into the cladding at all.

Each bracket went on, then the angle was set with the owner watching the live picture on their phone and saying when it looked right. Three cameras, start to finish, two and a half hours, done single-handed.

More on the HomeBase question and why it decides whether you pay a monthly fee: Do eufy Security Cameras Need a HomeBase?

📦

The Problem

A eufyCam S330 kit and an add-on camera, bought and still boxed. The system needed the HomeBase paired, the cameras joined to it, charged, mounted at the right heights and aimed — on a house where the last set of cameras had been removed and the holes sealed over.

The Fix

App installed, HomeBase paired, all three cameras joined and charged from a wall plug before going up. Old silicone cleared out of the existing fixings so the brackets reused them, then each camera aimed with the owner checking the live view on their phone.

The Finished Result

Three eufyCam S330 cameras covering the entrances, all recording to the HomeBase in the house with no monthly fee, and the owner able to see every angle from their phone. No new holes in the cladding and nothing left to seal.

Security Camera FAQ

Do I need a HomeBase, or will the cameras just join my Wi-Fi?

It depends on the brand, and it is worth knowing before you buy. eufy cameras need a HomeBase — the cameras talk to it, and it is also where the footage is stored, so there is no monthly fee. Ring and some others skip the base and join your Wi-Fi directly, but then the footage usually lives in the cloud on a subscription. Neither is wrong; they are just different systems.

Why do you ask how many storeys the house has?

Because it decides what the job actually is. Anything reachable from a ladder is one person and a couple of hours. Cameras going up at second-floor level need scaffolding and a second person on the ground, which is a different day and a different price. Asking first means the quote you get is the one you pay.

Will you have to drill new holes in my cladding?

Only if there is no other option. On this job the previous owner’s cameras had been taken down and the holes siliconed over, so the old fixings were cleared out and reused and nothing new was drilled. Where new holes are unavoidable they are sealed properly so the cladding stays weathertight.

The cameras are solar — do they still need charging?

Yes, before they go up. Solar keeps a battery topped up over time; it does not fill an empty one, and a camera mounted flat will take a long while to get there on its own. Charging all of them from a wall plug first is a few minutes that saves a week of a half-working system.

Can I buy the cameras myself?

Yes, and most people do. This owner bought the kit and the add-on camera themselves and paid only for the installation. Just tell us what you have bought before the visit so the right tools and ladder come with us.

What does the guarantee cover?

Twelve months on the installation itself — the mounting, the sealing and the setup. The cameras and the HomeBase are covered by eufy’s own warranty, since they are the manufacturer’s hardware.
